By Day, A Rapid Self Service.
By Night, A Space Of Gathering
Despaña Princeton was opened in 2013 as our first joint venture outside of New York. This beautiful downtown location is on the corner of Nassau and Olden and has an open space feel that includes a market on the first floor to allow for a grocery shopping experience by day and by night a “BYOB” restaurant.
The Leader Of Princeton’s Team
Bruno Romero is Co-Owner & Managing Director of Despaña Princeton. He was born and raised in Salamanca, Spain and moved to the United States in 1997. During those years he had a distinguished banking career and in 2003 he began a distribution business of foods from Spain. It is through the friendship created at that time that he and the Intriago’s begin talks of a future partnership to open up a branch of Despaña in NJ. This project gets established in 2013.
Bruno enjoys sharing his Spanish roots of fine cuisine and culture with his clientele, family and friends. New Jersey has become his home away from home and it is here where he has formed and shares his nostalgia for the products of his country and the culture he often misses.
In this location a Tapas Café and a Gourmet Boutique coexist. The first one is a place to relax, to taste truly authentic Spanish bites. Somewhere in which a plate of paella and a glass of sangria can be shared with friends while chatting or watching a football match.
Our foods are prepared fresh each morning and made with our imported ingredients as well as locally sourced produce. By day, a rapid self service with a selection of small bites, our famous bocadillos, fresh salads and pintxos for eat in or for take away. By night, a change of menu and table service as our café transforms into a space of gathering for enjoyment of tapas, paellas and more.
You can also buy many products on our gourmet boutique, dedicated to authentic flavors imported from Spain. Olives, cheeses and fruit preserves are some of the goods available for shopping, and our famous jamón and Traditional Chorizo.
